Materials, Models, Mindsets: A Learning Project

This project is like a Learning Project for me. I made lots of mistakes when I was working on it but I also learned lots of new things. It’s a group project and there are people from different backgrounds. It was my first Project with International people from different backgrounds like Fashion Design and Business.

From the beginning, I made a mistake by not distributing the work properly. The consequences of this mistake were severe from the beginning to the end. That is why I will be more careful in my next projects.

I also made a mistake in the planning part, my mistake was I didn’t plan for the fashion part I just planned for the business part as a project manager or team leader it was my mistake. I had to sync the whole project but I just focused on the Business part, but I know that problem was created because of the work distribution problem.

For my next project, I will be more careful about word distribution and planning and always try to sync the project perfectly. Those are my mistakes and new realisations as a group/team leader or project manager. Let’s talk about my personal development.

Just for this project, I learned about the fashion industry. Before this project, I didn’t know much about the fashion industry and Its Supply chain, distribution, manufacturing, marketing etc. So before doing research, I remember my previous chat with David Jones. He told me lots of things about fashion what should be our focus point for sustainable fashion and what is the consequences of the fashion industry.

That is why I started my research from the negative side of the fashion industry and found those solutions also. by doing this I also learn lots of things about the fashion industry and also learn about the positive side of the fashion industry.

My door is then knocked on by another problem. We are going to build a brand for our project which is why we had to build a business plan, marketing concepts, Market research, SWOT, PESTLE, Customer journey and buying option. I checked all my notes from Roxane Butterworth’s Class to find some ideas for this. After checking all the notes I also had some questions and Confusion so I went to talk with Roxane Butterworth and she helped me to understand those things and cleared my confusion. She also suggest some Articles. I also found a very important concept in Rachel’s lecture. I know about the circular fashion economy from her lecture which helped me a lot with my project.

The final challenge for me was the presentation slides, presentation style, and building a drama. To solve the Presentation slides problem, I recalled Abrar Hammuda’s lectures. She told us how to build the presentation slides and How to present a presentation and also suggested TED Talks as a reference. I found lots of presentation styles from TED Talks. I used the director and instructor style Presentation that is Open with a Hook and it was a combination of Idea, Process, Action and People Oriented Communication Style.
